Visit of Minister of International Relations to Brussels

On Monday 7th May 2012, Minister Nkoana-Mashabane, South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and the current COP17/CMP7 President, accompanied by South Africa’s Ambassador at Large for COP17/CMP7, Ambassador Mxakato-Diseko and South Africa’s Head of Mission to the EU, Ambassador Nkosi, participated in an Informal Ministerial Roundtable for Ambitious Follow-up to Durban – Accelerated Climate Action in Brussels. This Informal Ministerial Roundtable was hosted by Commissioner Hedergaad, the EU Commissioner for Climate Action. This Roundtable comes on the heels of an Informal Ministerial in Bonn which was hosted by Minister Nkoana-Mashabane in her capacity as the incumbent President of the COP/CMP.  She was invited to reflect on the outcomes of the Bonn Informal Meeting. The meeting, amongst others exchanged views on the forthcoming Rio +20 Summit in June 2012 to be held in Brazil and COP18/CMP8, to be held in Doha, Qatar in December 2012.  The world is proud of what South Africa achieved in Durban at COP17/CMP7 and is determined to build on that.
